The Bears Softball team repeated as 6th Region Champions on Tuesday at University of Louisville Ulmer Stadium by defeating Mercy 9-4. Their season came to an end on Saturday in the semi-state falling to Central Hardin 6-2. Butler finished the season with a record of 21-17 with an impressive 12-0 mark in the region. Seniors Alyssa Brock, Courtney Abbott and Anna Greenwell were joing on the All-Tournament team by Sadie Werner. Freshman Sadie Werner pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven to lead the Butler High School softball team to a 6-0 victory over Jeffersontown on Tuesday in a Sixth Region Tournament semifinal at the University of Louisville’s Ulmer Stadium. Werner walked just two and also hit a batter in helping Butler (25-9) – ranked No. 15 in the state – advance to Thursday’s 5:30 p.m. regional final against the Mercy-Holy Cross winner. Kyndal Tinnell and Tori Hartlage both went 3 for 4 to lead Butler’s 15-hit attack. Already up 2-0, the Bearettes strung together five hits and scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead. Alyssa Brock had a double during the rally. Butler is gunning for its first regional title since 2007 and has finished as the runner-up six times since then, including last year when the Bearettes lost 4-0 to Mercy in the final. Story from Courier-Journal. Butler Softball won their 15th straight 22nd District title on Tuesday over Iroquois 15-0. The Bears won their first round game 15-0 over Western as well. Butler have won 11 of their last 14 and enter the Regional Tournament with a record of 23-9 and will host a first round game on Monday 11am at Shively Park, opponent is yet to be determined.
