The Butler Boys Basketball squad defeated Bullitt East 52-48 to win their first 6th Region title in 9 years on Saturday. The boys defeated Western, DeSales, Jeffersontown, Bullitt Central and Bullitt East to claim the crown. Their record on the season is now 25-7 and they advance to the KHSAA Sweet 16 in Lexington. The Bears will face off with 14th Region Champion, Perry County Central, on Thursday at 12:00. The Butler Bears had remained undefeated all season till Jan 5, on the road against DeSales. The boys lost with a score of 62-53. JaQuay Wales had 15 and Reese Tolley added 14. Bears are now 13-1. They will be in action again Jan 6th vs North Bullitt, at Whitefield. The Butler Bears played traditional rival the Male Bulldogs, Dec 15 2017, at the Bears home gym. The big question was weather the boys were going to win to complete the very rare double win over the Bulldogs. An they answered with a HUGE yes! The Bears won 69-48 with Tolley having 19, Burns 13, Lamb 10. The Bears had 30 rebounds, 18 assists, 16 steals, and 6 blocks. The Boys Basketball team played the Moore Mustangs Dec 8 2017. The team was up 25-13 after the 1st quarter, but ended the game with the score being 100-71. Thompson 14. Tilley 17. Lamb 14. Pendergrass 12. Dorsey 12. Minter 10. Wales 9. Underwood 8. Dozier 4. The team had 36 rebounds, 22 assists, 20 steals, and 3 blocks. This now moves the boys record to 5-0. The Butler Bears played Bullitt East at home Dec 5 2017. The Bears were up 33-25 at halftime, then after a pause in the game with 3:09 left in the 3rd the bears were up 43-34. The boys ended the game 69-55, Tilley with 17, Pendergrass with 13 and Wales added 12. The team had 27 rebounds, 12 assists, 9 steals, and 3 blocks. The Boys Basketball Team kicked off their season with a big game vs. the Valley Vikings, Nov 28 2017. The boys were winning with a lead of 41-38 in the 3rd quarter. But then the Vikings fought back to make it a tight game. The Bears didn't give up, and took their first win to open up the season. The final score was 77-76. Butler had 39 rebounds , 8 assists, 17 steals, and 4 blocks. |
