Hat’e Dieven’s hat trick lifted the Butler High School boys soccer team to a 3-1 victory at Elizabethtown on Tuesday in the Semistate Three game. Dieven scored in the 14th, 48th and 63rd minutes as the Bears (18-3-1) – ranked No. 12 in the state – rallied from an early 1-0 deficit. Dieven, a junior forward, leads Butler with 47 goals this season. Irakoze Chartier had two assists and Yusuf Muhumed had one for Butler, and goalkeeper Tyler Glass added four saves. Butler will face No. 21 Hopkinsville (18-6-2) in Saturday’s state tournament quarterfinals in Lexington. The Bears Boys Soccer team closed out another 6th Region Title with a 3-0 win over Fairdale in the final at DeSales on Saturday. Butler was led by a shutout by goalkeeper Tyler Glass and goals from Ha'te Dieven, Abas Hassan and Aung Win. The Bears record is now 17-3-1 and they will travel to Elizabethtown for the first round of the state tournament facing off with Elizabethtown on Tuesday at 7pm. Making the 6th Regional all-Tournament Team were Hat’e Dievin, Irakoze Chartier, Yusuf Muhumed and Abdi Osman. The Bears faced Oldham County in the first round of the state tournament Oct 23. The Bears were in the lead with 2:40 left, but Oldham Co scored making the score 4-3. Butler goals were scored by Irakoze Chartier 2 and Aung Win with 1. Ending the Bears season with a record of 16-4-3.
Oct 21, the Butler Bears faced rival PRP for the final game of the Regional Tournament. The Bears fought extremely hard and won 2-1. Both goals were made by Irakoze Chartier. Nobody else on Butlers team scored a goal the whole regional tournament, Irakoze Chartier had 8. The Bears will play again Monday Oct 23, vs Oldham County. Game time at 7, at Mercy. The Butler Bears played 2 games Oct 11th for the district tournament. The first game was against DeSales . The boys won 2-0 with goals scored by Irakoze Chartier and Hate Dieven. The second game was against Doss for the District Championship. The boys won 6-2, with 4 goals by Hate Dieven, one by Abdijabr Osman, and one by Day Po. They will be back in action Oct 17th for the first round of region facing Moore at Mercy, game time is at 7:00. |
