The Butler Dance Team, the Sugar Bears, were crowned small hip hop Sectional Champions at the KHSAA Sectional. They scored 79.18 overall and will advance to the state championships in Lexington later this year. This is the first Sectional Championship for the Butler Dance Team. The Bears season came to a close in the regional semifinal at St. Xavier High School. The 4th ranked Butler football team fell to the 2nd ranked Tigers 20-35 ending their season. The team lost 4 games, all to teams ranked in the top 20 in the state. Butler was led by junior quarterback Chaz Burks who threw for 2,144 yards and 31 TDs on the season. Seniors Eric Jackson and Demontae Crumes rounded out the offensive power for the Bears: Jackson had 1,142 rushing yards and 14 TDs and Crumes caught 42 passes for 877 yards and 14 TDs. On defense, Butler was paced by Senior Sam Porter's 61 total tackles and Junior Hosea Knfeley's 11 TFLs. Butler returns many players for 2019 and look forward to building on back to back solid seasons. |
