Butler Cross Contry has wualified yet again for the KHSAA State Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park. The Bears placed 2nd in the Girls and 3rd in the Boys Regional. They were led y runner up finishes from freshmen Emma Endress and Senior Nolan Foushee. The girls 4x800m relay team was ranked #1 in Kentucky entering the State Championships of Friday at the University of Kentucky. They proved that ranking correct by dominating the competition and winning the state title by more than 10 seconds. The team was comprised of Cierra Wright (Sophomore), Esperance Nibitanga (Senior), Madison Adkins (Sophomore) and Emma Endress (8th Grader). This is the first state championship for Butler Girls Track since 2008, an 11 year drought. Congratulations to Coach Barnes and the team. The Bears Softball team repeated as 6th Region Champions on Tuesday at University of Louisville Ulmer Stadium by defeating Mercy 9-4. Their season came to an end on Saturday in the semi-state falling to Central Hardin 6-2. Butler finished the season with a record of 21-17 with an impressive 12-0 mark in the region. Seniors Alyssa Brock, Courtney Abbott and Anna Greenwell were joing on the All-Tournament team by Sadie Werner. The Butler Boys Basketball squad defeated Bullitt East 52-48 to win their first 6th Region title in 9 years on Saturday. The boys defeated Western, DeSales, Jeffersontown, Bullitt Central and Bullitt East to claim the crown. Their record on the season is now 25-7 and they advance to the KHSAA Sweet 16 in Lexington. The Bears will face off with 14th Region Champion, Perry County Central, on Thursday at 12:00. The Butler Sugar Bears Dance Team won the small hip hop division of the KDCO State Championships on Saturday in Lexington at Frederick Douglass High School. The team placed 3rd in Jazz as well. Saturday was improving on the Sugar Bears' runner up in the KHSAA State Championships earlier this season. The Butler Cheerleaders traveled to Orlando, Florida to take on the nation's best in the NHSCC put on by the UCA. The squad advanced to the semifinals and then the finals for the first time since 2014, culminating in an 11th place finish overall. This is a solid finish to a great cheer season that saw the Bears also win the KHSAA Sectional title in December. Seniors Mackenzie Ater and Dylan Vaughn completed a Butler sweep of the individual Regional Championships on Saturday. That make a total of 3 title for the Bears Bowlers this year (Boys Team, Girls Ind and Boys Ind). They will advance to the state championship tournament on February 7th at Executive Bowl. The Butler Bowlers won the team 3rd Region crown for the 3rd year in a row. The team is coming off of a state title run in 2018 and this year hopes to match that. The team is led by seniors Mackenzie Ater, Nathan Beck, Garrett Decker, Jonathan Harris and Dylan Vaughn. The team moves on to the State Championship on February 8th at Executive Bowl in Louisville. After winning their first Sectional title, the Sugar Bears dance team competed in the KHSAA state championship this past weekend. The squad placed 2nd in the hip hop division out of over 20 teams. In only the 2nd year as a KHSAA sanctioned sport, ths is the best finish for the Sugar Bears. They will next compete in the KDCO regional championships. The Butler cheerleaders won the KHSAA Sectional at Valley High School. The squad scored an 83.10 which was good enough for 4th overall in the state. After competing in the State Championships at the Alltech Arena in Lexington, the girls finished 6th in the large all-girl category. Their season is far from over however, they will next compete in the Nationals in Orlando, Florida. |
